If you're going by plane, your pets are carried as excess baggage and charged accordingly (total weight including carry box etc). If you are going by plane you should brief your airline well in advance as they decide whether or not to carry animals depending on the space available in the aircraft's hold.
As far as I know, since you're emigrating, you don't have to let a vet know, although it would be a good idea to contact a vet prior to your arrival as you never know how your animals will take the trip. If you know of anyone who can recommend a vet, I'd ask them.
Also I believe that when the animals arrive in Cyprus, the airport has to have animal reception facilities where they are given a checkup to make sure they've endured the trip ok before being released to you. |

Never mind the cats, what about birds... don't let it out of the cage Caroline, you'll have a Cypriot pop up over your shoulder with his carbine trying to shoot the thing! |

And don't forget the donkeys folks... if you've got any spare cash, sponsor one of the poor things... you know they deserve it.
