Get rid of crap emails! any idea!

Postby michalis5354 » Fri Jun 10, 2005 8:00 pm

Is there anyone else who receive these crap emails ?

Greetings!

I am Mr. Atole Osagie, personal assistance to the Director, Projects and Auditing Department of Federal
Ministry of Agriculture. I wish to express my willingness to transfer an overdue contract sum of US $21,000,000.00 to your Company's Account or Personal Account, through the presidency of Nigeria resulting from debt of contract & services rendered to agricultural development project (ADP) in Niger Delta .

This money emanated from over invoicing in a contract awarded to a foreign firm, for supply and installation of Agricultural Equipments and Fertilizers to Agricultural Development Project (ADP) by the former minister of agriculture under the last tenor of this democratically civilian administration for his personal purse but unfortunately for him, he was unable to transfer this fund to his purse before this newly elected minister.

I discovered this amount from the manifest recently that this fund is still floating without any claim and I decided to secure a payment authority to authenticate the transfer for my personal purse by using a foreigner(like you) to apply for the release of this over invoiced contract payment for the benefit of us all. This Deal is 100% covered from any form of enquiry, because all vital documents will be secured and payment approvals obtained will be dispatch to you, informing you extensively the progress on the transfer.

Finally, Note a High Degree of Trust and Confidentiality is required from both parties.

I will appreciate your response on this proposal as soon as you receive this mail; so as to enable me elucidate you on the procedure on how we can achieve this once in a life time opportunity.

Your urgent reply is highly anticipated.

Best Regards,

unwanted emails

Postby voyou » Fri Jun 10, 2005 9:05 pm

Hi michalis5354,

I have lots of these as I have my email address 'out there' I just ignore them. You certainly don't want to reply to them, once you do, they can get a little agressive I believe.

So best just to ignore them and keep your address as private as possible.

Funny as I have won several lotteries this week, and have been offered over £80 million... I am the luckiest person in the world!!

I have often replied to them.......with plenty of profanities!!

I've never had a reply back though, good or bad.

lmao. this site is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny.

here is an excerpt from one of the guys replies to the iddiot who sent the email.

PS - Are you a doctor as well? I noticed you sign your name with DR. Is being a CHIEF ACCOUNTING OFFICER a hobby for you? If you are a doctor, Agnus has a condition I'd like to talk to you about. I'll wait for your response just in case the DR. stands for something else. Let me know.

If you reply to them, you only go on numerous spam lists so it's best to just ignore and delete.

Its the so-called "Nigeria-connection". I've heard of people who answered those mails, got replies, mail contact back and forth, finally had to go to Nigeria to claim that huge amount of money and there having been treated really bad, robbed etc. Or if not so bad at least lost the money they spent on travelling etc. (this might be only urban legend though)

Anyway, this kind of mails is already a few years old and anyone should have heard of them by now.
You may judge it as a hoax when you take it the most harmless way.

If spam is a problem, goto http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ which is an e-mail sorter and exceedingly good at sorting out spam.

I've been using it for years, with 9 "buckets". The overall accuracy I get is 99.77% and for spam alone, 99.92% (both false positives and negatives). I've configured my e-mail client (Mozilla Thunderbird) to put my spam into the Trash box, where I can give it a check before erasing the whole box contents in one go. Strongly recommended with any e-mail client.

All these spam emails seem to originate from Nigeria !

Sure ignoring them is one solution but when you also receive other spam emails with attachments then the problem is more serious ,since your inbox gets full within a 2 day interval.

Thanks devil for the link I will visit this soon!

Funny as I have won several lotteries this week, and have been offered over £80 million... I am the luckiest person in the world!!

I wish they were original and true though......It is good to earn money in that easy way!
