Hi,
I have read so many different takes on schooling in cyprus for expats and am still unsure what to think,, I am moving out there may next year and to be honest cannot really afford to put my kids into private education, until i get myself established and a decent income coming in, they will be 8,7 and 3 years old when we come out, will they get along alright in state schools, does anyone have kids in state school that could give a good opinion on the matter
thanks

I think you need to plan a lot better, decent income etc, not the best time to come here without back up and enough to keep you going.
Rent, car fuel, electric, food, + cost of 3 growing children you need to be really sure of what you are doing |

PARAMED is right. £10k might seem alot Gaz but it will soon get eaten up.
Cyprus is a tough place to live even in the best of times. I would perhaps come out prior to moving and find yourself a job first - give it a try first and if you like it move over.
'Decent' opportunities are quite hard to find and the pay can sometimes not even be enough to pay the bills, which is why some people have 2 jobs!!
Think long and hard before making the move.... |

| Your kids will have to learn greek at quite a good level (I assume your moving to the south) if they go to a state school- they probably wont be to happy with that but given that their young they may manage it. Unless you expect them to study in greece or cyprus when they graduate you will have to fork out money for lessons to sit the british qualifications later on. I would think long and hard about this issue before you move here. |
