It doesnt get that close to the buildings in most places around the world but it can zoom enough to be able to see the characteristics of a place. However for big cities you can actually take a really close look, got really excited cause i was able to actually see my appartment building here in Philly
Eitherway since i tend to waste time most of my nights here i was looking over Cyprus and i noticed a huge block that is bluish northeast of the center of Nicosia.I was wondering if anyone knows what it is cause im curious.

i can find my road but all the building are one big blur. is there a way around this?

My first thought was that it was a military installation of some kind. I see the big blue spot on the commercial imagery. I have looked at other imagery centered on 34.1 33.1 lat-long and there is no blue section. It is just a bunch of buildings. I would send you jpg of it, but it is on a closed system. No floppy drives, no CDs, no USB ports.

Demetriou, it is difficult to find any good, free satellite imagery. Everyone wants your money.

By my GPS, this is eight km from where I am now. I have to take care of some business near there on Friday. If no one knows what this thing is by then, I will go snap a picture of it.

To me, that location looks like a large sewage works. There appear to be multiple pools which kind of rules it out as a reservoir. On a map, it looks like it's just east of Mia Milia and would be fed by one of the island's main 'rivers'.

I certainly think it's large pools of water anyway, there's no features to indicate that they are buildings and they would be vast structures if they were.
