The difference in the UK is that if you copy the 'Cyprus creep', then in all likelihood there will be a camera on top of the traffic lights ready to take your picture as you creep through on red... can you imagine the revenue the government in Cyprus would get from traffic light cameras? They could probably lower income tax to nil :D

Absolutely True! Took the long view of global warming and did not fancy living in 'Windsor UK Under Water World'. If the Troodos was any higher there would be permanent snow, as it is theres not enough to do any real damage and in the years to come instead of me driving to the beach the beach will come nearer to me.

If I ever finish this old house I'll start building an Ark got enough dogs, cats and goats etc.

After two days of trying to knock a new doorway into what my wife terms the site of her new luxury kitchen I can confirm that what the Germans say about the Cypriots is true. The Germans say that "The Cypriots build houses as if they are going to live for ever and eat as if they will die tomorrow".

Can't remember where I read this, but I found it funny at the time...

It goes something like...

'Cypriots build their houses like they'll live forever, yet drink, eat and drive like there's no tomorrow'

Ne'er a truer word spoken...

My former UK employer regarded all of the staff who worked in the flight that I worked for as "Tree Huggers" as none of us ever left the airline. This term was used in scornful manner and such was their disdain for us that they sold us to an American company. With that 350 of the 450 employees asked for voluntary severence/redundency/early retirement and the new company and the airline were completely buggered! In their arrogance both our new and old employers had agreed in writing that we could go with maximum benefits if we chose to. Most of us still work for the airline but as contractors earning four or five times as much as we did as employees! As I remarked to a HR (Human Remains) Manager sometimes just sometimes the Tree Huggers will get the chain saws out! stuff em.

The law in Cyprus will only allow photographs of female drivers to be taken after they have visited the beauty salon. It would be grossly unfair for a Cypriot woman to have her photographs displayed in a court of law if she had been unable to prepare herself properly.

As for the income tax if it gets any lower I shall look forward to not only being paid by my employers but by the government as well!
