My former UK employer regarded all of the staff who worked in the flight that I worked for as "Tree Huggers" as none of us ever left the airline. This term was used in scornful manner and such was their disdain for us that they sold us to an American company. With that 350 of the 450 employees asked for voluntary severence/redundency/early retirement and the new company and the airline were completely buggered! In their arrogance both our new and old employers had agreed in writing that we could go with maximum benefits if we chose to. Most of us still work for the airline but as contractors earning four or five times as much as we did as employees! As I remarked to a HR (Human Remains) Manager sometimes just sometimes the Tree Huggers will get the chain saws out! stuff em.

dont quite follow. are you into save-the-trees and all that??

No not really but then again and you've made me think about it perhaps I am. Much worse things to be known as than a "Tree Hugger".

Country side here is beautiful and I grown to appreciate it, still relatively unspoilt with very little development going on apart from the odd house here and there being built for the locals rather than for speculators. In many ways the area and the people are reminiscent of what I found in Cyprus in the 1960's when I came here to meet my future wife's family.
Slower pace than the rest of the RoC and a place where you can still leave your home or car unlocked, where neighbours talk to each other and share what they produce with each other.

Yep! reckon I'm a "Tree Hugger".

I am not sure we have the weather for motor bike riding; wearing helmets is hot for most of the year and only for about two weeks a year could you wear proper protective leathers (ooh er!).

Sorry to drag the thread back on topic :-)
