Two Completely Separe States solution?

Postby MicAtCyp » Tue Jun 08, 2004 1:03 pm

Yes, we are heading fast to a 2 completely separate States solution!!! That is what the Anan Plan was, that is what the majority of the TCs always wanted. However the Anan Plan wanted the GCs to bear all the economic costs of the 2nd separate state as well as lose 2/3 of their properties and that is why the GCs voted NO. Unfortunately the GCs are left with NO OTHER CHOICE.There can never be a solution that will satisfy both the TCs,AND the settlers, AND Turkey, AND the Anglo-Americans, unless the GCs surrender completely.

Read the following article of Politis in Greek.

Herebelow my English translation

*******************************************

POLITIS ARTICLE No 458757

The National Council will assemble after the elections for the Euro PMs in order to examine the recent developments in the Cypriot question. Informed sources appreciate that the Greek-Cypriot side will examine three scripts of strategy:

1 The acceptance of the Anan Plan (with some slight improvements) accompanied with guarantees for its implementation. (Comment: which of course has no chance to pass to a new referedum because they know DAMN WELL that the main problem of the GC people with the Anan Plan was not the security and the guarantees but the properties and the human rights violations and the economics of the 3 completely separate states solution)

2 Negotiations on the basis of "recognition against territory" aiming at the consensious split of the occupied areas from the RoC. After the territorial adjustements, the "green line" will become a state border. (Comment: which green line does he mean? The existing one, or the one that will be created after the territorial adjustments???) The roads of two communities will separate once for all. In this case only the Greek-Cypriot state will remain part of the EU.

3.Negotiation in the basis of "recognition against territory" under the monitoring of EU aiming at the creation of a union of two independent states, which will be represented with one vote in the Community bodies. This is necessary, because the Europeans do not wish two Cypriot states in the Union.

***************************************

I was saying it all along. Unfortunately our compatriots left us with NO OTHER CHOICE.
We do want a solution, and we want it the soonest possible. But not a solution of surrender. We cannot wait for another 30 years for Mr Talat to realise the irreversible effects of the NEW TRAP of handling the fate of the TCs to the Anglo-Americans.It took the TCs 30 years to realise the irrevirsible effects of handling their fate to the Turkish Generals. We (the GCs) cannot always pay for both our mistakes, and theirs…..
Do I have to bet that the decision at the National Council will be No 2?

I am afraid this article is based on misinformation and propaganda and nothing constructive to move forward. probably that is the aim of the person who wrote it. To divide Cyprus.

There are many manipulation of facts on this!

I don't think this will happen. The US-UK want a fragile situation in Cyprus. If two separate states are created, one in the EU and another under Turkey then they lost the game. They, themselves do not want that. They might lift embargoes etc, but they will not officially recognize them simply because it doesn't serve their own interests.
