Youth demanding ‘freedom for Cyprus’ was punished in the Cyprus Armed Froces.

A member of EFEN (ΕΦΕΝ), the patriotic student youth movement, who just joined the army for his obligatory service, was reported on Sunday 30th August by one of his superiors (who belongs to the communist youth party EDON (ΕΔΟΝ) for wearing an EFEN t-shirt. The EDON member told the young recruit that wearing such t-shirts, which demand ‘freedom for Cyprus’ were not allowed in the army.

This follows many incidents where the Christofias government intimidates young students who belong to anti-bi-zonal bi-communal federation groups. Recently the slogan ‘Hellas Hellas do not forget Cyprus’ was banned and the officers who chanted it were severely punished. This government does not want to hear the word ‘Greece’, ‘Greeks’, ‘Hellenism’.

It is apparent that they want to destroy the only line of military defense Cyprus has by demoralizing troops, not ordering ammunition for weapon and decreasing troop levels and a period where the Turkish armed forces are doing exactly the opposite.
Things are getting even worse by the day.

Fanoulla Argyrous reply to Sir David Hannay's latest article on Cyprus.

You can find the latest provocative article on AGORA http://agora-dialogue.com/?p=868

Sir David Hannay is indeed consistent with his role as representative of the pro-Turkish British Foreign Office policy over Cyprus. He was the one who excluded the british bases from the EU 1970s (during Britain's membership with the EEC then) and 1990s (when Cyprus's application came back) and promoted the notorious Annan Plan in favour of Turkey. The Turkish demand for a Bizonal Bicommunal Federation was promoted by James Callaghan from August 1974 and he even sent a massive delegate to Washington to ask Kissinger for his support for it (meeting took place 27/8/1974). Gl. Clerides was chosen by Callaghan to push it through through thick and thin even by blackmailing Makarios. Support for Clerides and his British mandate came from AKEL hence Clerides arranged WITH THE COOPERATION OF Sir Olver (British H.Commissioner at the time in Cyprus) for Papaioannou and Fantis in November 1974 to visit London (they were flown from Akrotiri) so that they could PERSUADE Makarios to accept Clerides's demand for consent for a geographical federation (i.e. bizonal as R. Denktash demanded). Therefore no surprises there for Hannay and his lot being over optimistic for a solution so soon with president Christofias on board. However, they should never put the cart before the horse. The Greek people of Cyprus rejected their anathema in 2004 and they will do the same again. We are not going to surrender our country, our rights, our properties, our Churches, our memories neither for Hannay and his lot nor any of our lot to that matter that supports them so that they can de-criminise Turkey and facilitate her EU entry. We say NO. WE DO NOT FORGET THE THIEVES, INVADERS, RAPISTS, MURDERERS OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND SNATCHERS OF OUR LAND.

Nationalism is the last thing we need if we are going to cultivate support for the bizonal federation which the Cyprus government and Turkish Cypriot leadership has accepted as the basis for a solution for decades.
Otherwise we will have TMT fanatics shouting for Taksim on the other side and we all know where this will lead us:partition, final and total with no return of territory and a continual increase in the Turkish population in the north until they are the majority on the whole island!!
I have very close personal connection with Yialousa from my father-in-law and go over there whenever I can.The T.C's who live there are very friendly, speak Greek and mostly come from Tyllyria area. They would be quite happy for us to return and to go back to Kokkina etc. themselves.
Try talking to Erdogan Ozabackli at the Theresa hotel and fish taverna in Ayios Therissos, who has many G.C. friends, some of whom are high-up in the present government and whose wife is a doctor who has always tried to help the elderly G.C's still living there.

What do you mean by this:-

Quote:

Cyprus is a single state and always will be. Not part of the Turco world.
