Football, Basketball, F1 etc.

By all accounts that's a pretty good performance by the Cypriots, and shame about the final result. They must be rising up the world rankings at around the same rate as Scotland are plummeting. :( Come back King Kenny!

A little consolation for my compatriots after the heartbreaking loss in Italy… :(

Cyprus crowned World Champion in School Football

“Cyprus was crowned Sunday world champion in the World Schools Championship 2009 that took place in Antalya, Turkey, 5 - 13 April.

The Cypriot team beat South Africa 4-1 in the final game and was crowned world champion “thus achieving one of the greatest successes not only for school sports but for Cypriot sport in general”, a press release by the Ministry of Education and Culture says.”

Furious Marcello Lippi Pushes Journalist & Cameras Aside After Cyprus Win, Describing Fans As Shameful

"A furious Marcello Lippi has caused controversy in Parma after pushing a journalist and his cameraman aside following the 3-2 win over Cyprus in Italy's final World Cup qualifier.

The coach launched a stinging attack on the fans inside the stadium, and claimed they have bought "shame" on the national side.

A clearly angered Lippi lost his temper during his post match interview, bringing back echoes of his last press bust-up back in Germany 2006."
