I can see where you are comming from and share some of your concerns.

However their is another way to look at this (and this is for the admin/owner to consider really). If people are seeking information about moving to the north or bying property there, and they can or do not recieve it here, then they will simply go elsewhere. At least here (if the admin would allow it) we would have a good 'balance' of opinions and all views can be expressed from all sides. Would you rather have the prospective buyers get their 'information' from sites controlled and used by British expats already living in the North?

Food for though perhaps?

What are u saying re, erolz is right better let them now what they should ensure before bying property there rather than consulting landowners who will obviously not let them now of the whole situation.

So you are saying to have the whole discussion about properties in the occupied Cyprus every time somebody asks a question about it? If it is like this then these threads will be turned to "Cyprus problem" threads, and I don't think the Admin would want that.

What I am saying is that the choice is let prospective buyers ask these questions here and get a range of views on the morality, legality and security of buying property in the north or have these people go to another forum where they will only hear one side of the story. Which do you think is better for Cyprus and the prospective buyers?

When you say "range of views" do you include the views that will promote illegal activities? How should the moderators/Admin deal with such posts, since they will be clearly violating the rules of this forum?

I said that this was for the admin / owner to consider. They set the rules here and we accept them or we go elsewhere.

If I were to say that in my view buying property in the north is not as risky as many GC would have you believe is that 'promoting an illegal activity' or not?

If I were to say it is not illegal to buy property in the north under the norths laws, or under the UK's laws (which is true) - is that 'promoting illegal activites' or is it just stating facts?

The point is that currently the admin will not allow such discussions about buying property in the north. This is his decision. All I am suggesting is that such an approach is not perhaps the best or right one and does not necessarily achieve the (assumed) objective of the admin and in fact may actualy work against these objectives.

Really Piratis this is not to do with you, but the admin. It was a suggestion to the admin, which he can ignore or consider as he wishes. If he continues to insist that such discussions are not acceptable here, then so be it. Personally I think this approach is self defeating and have tried to explain why I think this is the case.

why has my suggestion thread gone off topic as well?!?!

Piratis you said a big malakia because questions regarding the occupied areas could still be posted in the general chat area.

maybe in the new area a sticky thread could be placed where the opinions of the admin of the forum are layed down as well as that disclaimer about the advertisements.

i also think that this new thread should be dubbed the "thrill" thread because a) thats my name and b) moving to cyprus is a thrill
