Idiot, it was the Greeks who began to emmigrate away from Greece in the late 18th Century who began the Neo-Classical Age, painters such as Nikiforos Lytras, Nikolaos Gyzis, and Constantinos Volanakis or sculptors such as Yannoulis Halepas or the poetry of Dionysios Solomos - In addition with the Italians, Neo-Classicism was Europe-Wide, english cannot claim credit for it.

Btw British Museum is full of stolen artifacts that the Britishers refuse to return. Zappeion and Athens Academy anyway.

Utter bollocks, excuse my French. I refer you to this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-classicism

Neo-classicism may have been Europe-wide, but how do you think it ended up on the north-east plain of India, or at the Cape in South Africa? Did Lytras, Gyzis, or Solomos collect air miles?

It's always those with an innate sense of superiority that try to denigrate others by calling them names. Therefore, I'll simply call you misguided.

P.S. As for the Parthenon frieze, I agree it should be given back now that there are adequate facilities to store it. However, it's likely that had they remained in Athens, they'd be broken into a million pieces by now. Under the Ottomans the site was badly neglected and continued to be mistreated even under Greek rule for many decades.

Yes, empires were used as vechiles for spreading this culture, does not mean the English invented them. English are SOOOOO racist.

Nothing theg... just Chomskyfan displaying his true colours, Nickthegreek, dighenisgrivas welcome back...

Note that he had to use a German painter as his example because Greece hasn't produced any artists of note for centuries.

On the contrary my friend, I love Greece and I love Greeks. I'm currently learning Greek and most of the music I listen to is Greek. It's the xenophobic, 'the world owes us everything', militant nationalist Greeks that I despise. I married a Greek Cypriot so I must love something about them. Although no doubt my wife is a traitor according to Chomskyfan for marrying outside her heritage.
