| Nick, I'd suggest you approach the TRNC public information office with your proposal for an interview with Denktas. I'm sure he has an office somewhere in Nicosia where you can direct your enquiry. |

Generally with formal applications they can get rejected due to the political nature. Some documantary methods for obtaining interviewees are less formal by asking them formally in their local area if they would like to participate over coffee or something.
People always love to talk about something they know lots about.
I'd be interested to interview Denktash, he's so cypriot but yet so Turkish. He was responsible for putting an uncle of mine in prison for some dispute of a building of a house before the island was divided.
If any one has the exact information i would suggest posting it to my inbox rarther than posting online for ethical reasons.
Thanks, |

Nickp, one angle that you might be able to approach would be to request an interview to discuss Denktas' photography... by all accounts he's an extremely good photographer. Alternatively, you might approach him to discuss his penchant for birds (of the feathered variety). According to accounts I've read, his house is a veritable menagery.
I do agree though, he is certainly one of the more fascinating men of our time, disagree with his politics or not, he could certainly not be accused of having led a dull life. |

Hey Moose, thats a really good idea thanks, almost like a 'trojan horse' method to get in. Most old time cypriots are quite humble people so his housing doesn't surprise me. However, even humble housing in Cyprus is in itself quite beautiful given the climate and terrain. I'd rarther live in one of those than a council estate or damp terrace house in northern England. |

No problem mate, if you do manage to snatch an interview, let me know, I'd like to sneak in a question if I may! |

Ideally he needs to be interviewed by Jeremy Paxton, can you imagine those two! |

I would imagine a rerun of the Paxman-George Galloway interview from election night... |

What do you think would happen if i turned up in a coach full of elderly GC's outside Dentashe's house and we all got out like a tourist attraction walking round his house.
Would make a good 'You've been framed'. |
