I am interested in what people think about the internet service in Cyprus. We are just starting to promote our services out there and really need to let people know that it is available....no more snails pace.
I have read articles in the grapevine re the frustrations and have now appointed resellers in Cyprus.

it is available in all areas even the most rural!! and even has a telephone connection toll quality 1.5 p per minute back to the UK
It used to be expensive now come down in price and only now available in Cyprus after joining the EU. |

| what are the requirements to receive sat broadband? What speed or download rate is available, what does it cost initially and how much per month? ALSO can you subscribe for less than a year? ie can you say switch on for 1 mth or 2wks whilst in Cyprus, and when out of the country switch off and not pay whilst away and return and again switch on and pay when back in the country? |

We fit a small (1.2m) dish to your home or office which is connected to a satellite modem. The modem has a LAN connection that can be connected directly to your PC or to a local area network so that several PC’s can share the connection. We have customers that are setting up ‘community’ services using wireless networking.
No telephone line or expensive GPRS connection is required for our service.
We offer speeds up to 4M download and 2M upload with costs starting at CYŁ55 per month for an unlimited 512K down and 128K upload connection.
The hardware costs CYŁ995 plus installation.
yes, you can subscribe for a minimum period of one month and switch the system off so that you incur no charges when you are out of the country – on return, a quick call to our sales department will get your connection re-instated within ten minutes.

It sucks!! I've got adsl 1mb and i can't even play an online game without lagging. Not to mention download speed... Cyta sucks! |
