LoL... one prase I phrase I learned in Cyprus what "Shishi"... I think it means something like "Great!" as refering to something happening...
I also know "Inda pou kamnis" is "How are you".
also: "Jimase?" Are you sleeping?
LoL... I was taught more...
Oh yeah!!! LOL!! :
"kilinjiros" means something like: dirty punk and "kkoroubettos" is somthing similar. Although, I don't really think that these are words to call people on the streets. Also, my friend says, to pronounce them, you have to spit a little, lol.
Also, unlike in Greece, the word "ke" (and) is pronounced "je") |

Brilliant phrases AA
A phrase that pops into my mind is:
"Piasto shakatouri me tin tappourokolou"
which means:
"Take the downhill with the motorbike" |

Not sure of the spelling, but "malaga" is pretty handy to know. That means w-nker.
And also, "moto sheisto"
Not sure what that means, but I think it's something like mother f-cker.
Am I right? Or way off the mark?

I guess "signomi, pou ine i toualeta" is easier
By the way, the reason that most British people never learn Greek even if they lived many years here is because they didn't really have to.
Speaking English will be enough in the 99% of the places. |
I agree with Piratis on both counts...
If you are worried about pronunciation, here it is phonetically
Sig-no-mee, poo in-ay ee too-a-let-a (a pronounced as a short a, not an 'ar' sound)
To be honest, as a tourist, you really shouldn't worry about language since most people will speak english to you as they will recognise you as non-Cypriot. |
