Immigration problem

Benefits and problems from the EU membership.

Carlos
Just keep going around to Immigration and pestering them; it's a war of attrition with them. I'm an EU citizen and it took me a year to get my non-EU Citizen wife her Pink Slip; a document that should be issued within a couple of weeks to an EU Citizens Spouse. We are presently waiting for her new pink slip and she is unable to leave the country until it is issued

Palio
Well worth a visit to Immigration just to see where the Cypriot Taxpayers money goes; there will be a couple of Clerks working and another twenty either doing their nails or on their mobile phones. Unfortunately it is very racial in Immigration and there is one Manager in particular who speaks to the applicants like they are dirt; if he spoke to me that way he would end up with a broken jaw. Some of the other officials are very helpful if you are EUropean but unfortunately the Asians are generally treated like second class ciitizens.

Does anybody know where can we complain about the mistreat of Cyprus immigration?

Because... I am from Brazil but I live here for 3 years I've always lived legally here. I've been married for over 2 years with European citizen.
Plus,I've done everything that they've asked me rightly. But every time I call to ask about my slip, they say that they are still studying my situation.
Which situation?
Actually,I do not care about for the reason of leaving and coming back of the island. Because,as a Brazilian I don't need visa to come to Cyprus.
My query is that,I can't do any thing here without this paper.
For example: Simple things like having a "drive license"and such things that requires some official paper. It's really hard to know how to do something and not being able to do so,because someone decides that you are are not good enough to be here. I feel like I've been born with a curse because I haven't been born a EU citizen. I know that somebody might be reading it and saying that: "If you're not happy with our way of life: Go back to your country!!! But I let everyone Know that,I'd love to. But My wife has her daughter who studies here. We have our life here. And I let them know that I respect much more than many, but many people who has the natural right to be here. I pay all my bills,I don't drive without drive license because,I was educated that when learn to do "the wrong". You always gonna do the wrong. And that's is fact. So I ask,if there anybody reading this and know anything about it. Please, don't let me in the dark. Cos I'm done taking Bullsh*t as an answer.
Thanx!!!

Is your wife from Romania or Bulgaria by any chance? I've been told that in Cyprus there are a lot of marriages of convenience between citizens of those 2 countries and 3rd country nationals. Immigration department is fucked up anyways but in those situations it can be even worst. Only if you have a child with your wife they will be convinced that your marriage is for real. Otherwise they will continue to suspect you.

I'm Lebanese and My wife is Cypriot , we were living in Africa (Nigeria) we came here because my wife wanted to give birth here , I applied for that Pink slip , got it in 4 weeks time , without a question, and now i renewed again and they did not bother me at all , they were very nice and friendly..... very weird... if all your documents are ok then you shouldn't have any problems , you probably get it in any moment

Good Luck

Immigration problems

Postby Khadijah » Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:39 am

Visit this website and complete their form for help in this matter. The Cyprus government must resolve all non-EU residency requests within 6 months I have been told unless there is a valid reason for not doing so. http://ec.europa.eu/solvit/

Carlos,

Might be an idea to contact the EU commission here in Cyprus, They have the power to kick the arse's in most, if not all Government departments here, if they are not towing the line of EU regulations. Can't think of the name of the charter, but it deals with the right of EU citizens marrying and having there Non-EU spouse awarded working type visa etc in the country they are living in. I know of many English, French and German guy's living in other EU countries, that have married outside of the EU, and brought there wives back (almost immediately) to that other EU country, and within weeks there spouses have been issued NI numbers that allow them to work etc etc!!
That Carlos, is far quicker than these guy's own countries immigration dept's would have operated, So check it out!!

All government offices here, treat it's Citizens like dirt. Why, because if they didn't, they would actually have to do some work for there there monthly salaries!! You could get rid of half of all of them and still get the same level of service.... Let's not forget either, that most of these government offices close/finish at 2pm...on the dot!!! The staff car-parks are empty by 2.10/2.15pm!!

Let's just say they are ...Bone idle, apathetic, morons that know as little about the content of their jobs as the applicants on the other side of there large desks... It's a small wonder anything actually gets done at any government level here...
