Ebay as a seller.

Has any of you used ebay to sell anything there? What exactly is the procedure and what should I be aware of?

Been buying for over a year but not have tried to sell something

I sold loadsastuff on ebay before leaving the UK....

It is a very simple process - it leads you through it all with all the options...

My advice: Everybody loves a bargain - price low and let the suckers fight it out...

Scammers, a not u.

And yes Paypal deposits the cash into your nominated account. I've sold loads of stuff, always got paid.

Hi,

Here is a link to the eBay guide for sellers.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/sell-getstarted.html

First step is of course to open a seller account and become verified.

eBay for sellers has changed a LOT over the past 3 years.

You have to offer Paypal as one of your payment methods.

Paypal place 21 day holds on money received for goods in high risk categories - awaiting either positive feedback from the buyer or 21 days to lapse with no complaint raised.

Some goods have restrictions on numbers of them new sellers can sell (Designer goods)

It will all be explained in the guide for sellers and you can also log on to their Discussion Forums and use the New to Selling or New to eBay forums to get help quickly from experienced users.

It's easier to sign up for Paypal before you start selling. And you will need a landline phone number for smooth and quick verification.

What I don’t get is the sale of goods on ebay that are below a certain value (and there are many) ….ie: how do you justify the cost of p&p and credit card transaction fees for a stupid $10 item? :?

Should have added that, if you only have Cypriot Banking facilities (and not a UK or US bank account attached to a UK or US address) Paypal is restricted slightly for Cyprus where withdrawing funds to your bank is concerned. All is explained here:

https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

Cyprus+
Send. Receive. Withdraw to a U.S. Bank Account or a card.

Send and receive payments in these countries. Withdraw from your PayPal account to a U.S. bank account. In addition, withdraw to a credit, debit, or prepaid card in countries marked with a (+).

Most Cyprus eBay sellers I know list their items on the US site (millions more buyers!) but as Cyprus does not have its own dedicated eBay site, you can sign up to US, UK or de.

You have to state YOUR location on listings and also the location of your items.

It is much easier to sell as an eBay seller in the UK than from Cyprus - lots of people are funny about buying 'from abroad' and you have problems with what looks like very high postage rates too.

$10? lol! That's a PRICEY item GR! Try 1cent or 1p items that cost to list and where postage has to be FREE to the buyer!

It would take me too long to tell you about it but, believe me, most of the BIG sellers doing that know exactly what they are doing. And it ain't giving stuff away.

You pay Paypal to receive the money too.

In the UK it has been FREE to list items under 99p for private sellers for some time now. Trouble is, a lot of them go for 99p too these days. Private sellers are restricted to listing 100 items a month.

Anyone who sells stuff they make, or buy to sell or who sells on behalf of other people, now has to register as a Business Seller with eBay and display their full contact details on their listings. As I said above, eBay has changed a LOT for sellers in the past few years.
