First of all you have to translate your post in English, otherwise it will be erased. When you do so, your questions will be answered.

What makes you so sure that the majority of Greek Cypriots wish to unify with Greece? Things have changed a lot ever since 1974... We "kalamarades" are in a worse financial state than "them" (Greek Cypriots). Why on earth would they prefer "enosis" now (taking into account the economical situation)...?

Finally, I hope you're joking when you write that "the Greek Cypriots must realize they are Greeks and act like it -like what btw?- and then TC and Turkey will recognize them as such (!!). I guess you mean the island and the GC rule? Only if hell freezes over my friend...

SB, until he posts in english, we shouldn't really respond to him. It's part of his tactics to marginalise non-Greek speakers on the forum and should not be encouraged. Plus, his message is so ridiculous as to barely warrant a sensible and considered response such as yours anyway. :D

My friend I certainly recognize that I am greek first, cypriot second, moreover, I agree with you, at some point in time cyprus MUST unify with Greece, its historical destiny.

CF, why 'MUST'? If anything, GC and Greek culture have less in common today than ever before. Being in Cyprus doesn't feel to me like being in Greece at all to be honest, it's a different ambience entirely. Plus, there are two strands to modern nation-hood, one towards supranationality, i.e. the evolution of a political European Union, which appears to have reached its zenith and be somewhat on the wane now; secondly, one towards fragmentation and regionalisation of the state, exhibited through the move away from centralisation and increasing autonomy and even independence for particular regions of the state. Therefore, I think we're far more likely to see an independent Crete than Cyprus becoming a mere province of a greater Greece.

If anything, the trend of history has been against unification of Cyprus with Greece. Cyprus was politically and socially part of the hellenic world thousands of years ago. Whilst a majority of the population of the island have an enduring attachment to hellenism, in political and economic terms today, Cyprus is nothing like Greece and is not becoming so. There is also little interest in either Greece or Cyprus promoting the cause of enosis, which is increasingly redundant given Cyprus' membership of the EU, within which legally Cyprus has joined a political entity greater than just little Greece.

I therefore dispute your logic that the unification of Cyprus and Greece is a 'must', or even logical.
