Have been here in Cyprus for a week today, missed the UK elections but have rejuvenated my self on this Paradise Island.
The weather has, naturally for this time of the yea, been absolutely fantastic, the sunrise and sunset as always phenomenal, blue skies mostly, and I have this time noticed more intensely the abundance of Eastern Europeans, mostly Russians.

It was such a pleasure to witness school children out for an outing at the Dasoudi beach, well behaved and so so European, if you know what I mean. Spoke to one of the teachers in charge and expressed my joy at how well behaved these children were.

Yesterday, May the 9th, was my ..long awaited 69th birthday party, a family gathering with so many children livening the atmosphere, a joy to watch. My 3 grandchildren and their little cousins having a boisterous time. Alas come 10 pm I fell asleep, too much wine but excused by my quests as once again I was the oldest at the party.

There are a number of shops in Enaerios area and on my early strolls to the seafront I couldn't help looking at a shoe shop displaying men's shoes at prices well beyond what I would spend on a pair of normal loafers , took a video of the displayed prices and could not fathom how anyone would pay 275 euros for a pair of loafers. No signs of an economic downturn here.

Being a Sunday Im hoping that on my visit to the cemetery I might seem the couple I met on a few occasions feeding the army of abandoned cats, boy do I have a surprise feast for them, the cats that is.

All good things come to an end as my return to the ....cosmopolitan UK approaches, Wednesday.

Will have spent 10 glorious days in Paradise and did not even have to ....blow my self up. My other third and her daughter will return on Tuesday.

I honestly and sincerely believe that when in Cyprus I live twice. Cant wait for my next visit.
Have a great day on Paradise Island.

Hi Deniz, long time no see mate.Must meet up in London soon.

Flying back tomorrow evening, as always it has been an amazing time in our beautiful Paradise island. Watched the glorious sunrise this morning from the Limassol peer, took a couple of amazing photos. When I get back I will post them here.

Yesterday lunch my self, other third and her daughter went to Ayios Georgios Alamanu, a fantastic fish lunch, alas I could not drink as I was driving and although prompted by my other third offering to drive, I declined !!!

I had my usual sketo this morning at Dasoudi beach, pure bliss, so lucky to be alive and enjoy such environment, the sun, sea, beautiful...waitresses, what else can a man ask.

On my return I must make the decision and move here permanently, I just love the place, for me it has all the ingredients to make a man incredibly happy and also make one look much younger more....amorous !!!

RW, have a drink on me mate !!!

For us Famagustians, not familiar with Limassol landmarks, can you tell us what on earth is Enaerios? Sounds like a suitable name for a cable car.

I'll be damned! Just did a search and look what I found:

"In order to transport the asbestos through the countryside, where no roads existed at the time, an aerial railroad was built by Italian engineers in order to transport the asbestos to the warehouses in this area (none of them exist today, unfortunately). "

There was a cable car and it was called Enaerios sidirodromos!
