I've got a gigabit network of 8 at 4000 and they all cruise except when my worse half is violating admin rules… :?

lol women and technology dont mix ;p

well it depends what your doing online and if you have the patients to wait for your files to download or upload. games like WoW chew up the bandwidth. and i am in a hurry to download my files i want them in 2 seconds lol.

WoW chew up the bandwidth? What are you on about? Games don't even require 15kb/s of data. It's only if you ever download any bandwidth. Why do you need all that speed? Well if you haven't noticed most programs pictures video files get larger in size. Sites are taking much longer time to load cause of their size. Everything is growing bigger.

I'd be happy if I was just getting the 2M I pay for! Been on the phone to Cyta this morning (general fault in this area) and asked him about their coming upgrade - he said the new year. Complained about mine and he got me to do the Cyta speedtest - agreed it was pretty abysmal - took my mobile number and said he'd get someone to look into it. I won't hold my breath.

He got me to do Speedtest.net as well and wouldn't you know it - for the FIRST time ever - it returned 1.97 for download - it has NEVER registered more than 0.9 before. Typical. Perhaps I will get closer to 2 when they ugrade to 4?

It's a lot of money for what you get.

However, my son told me this week that, in some areas in the UK (he was speaking about Watford at the time) you can pay for 20 and get only 1. The figures they give are 'up to' figures. And area makes a difference. He said his was better in the Cayman Islands than it is on the edge of London at the mo.

maybe its the distance you are from the exchange is just very far? my friend just further down in the village he cannot get more then 256kbit adsl LOL -

2mbit is too slow even 4 and 8 is. you should check see how far you are from exchange and do you use those splinter things for every phone you have plugged in?

Only have one phone. Live in the town centre - off the waterfront - short walk from Finicoudes.

Something very odd going on this week. My next door neighbour asked me a few days ago about the internet being out. Mine was OK all day. Even if I wasn't using it, if it went off at anytime it would drop my VPN connection to the UK and I'd see the warning.

Today, mine was off and when I checked with him, his was OK! When I phoned Cyta they said they'd had a problem locally. Obviously a problem that stopped at my address today and a problem that stopped next door at his the other day!

Yeah - I've been looking at Cable Net now they are here in my area. But I've been reading some bad reports of them saying it is particularly bad in Larnaca?

One thing I will say for Cyta - you can always get thro' to someone quickly on the phone and they will call you back if you don't want to hang on. And they have always sorted the problem there and then whenever I've had one which isn't often in the past 5 yrs.

Just not FAST enough!

strange that the problem stopped before you house, but good thing it did nto effect you even if you did not use the internet that day ...

i have no idea how cable is in cyprus i am not in a cable area :( otherwise i would have it..

http://www.cyprusbroadband.net/forum/index.php i a forum with isp reviews and though there is not much activity...

yes you do get through quickly but normally they have no idea what they are doing. but i am glad i am not speaking to an indian lol

with cable you dont have to be close to the exchange to get full download speed but the hubs every one shares x amount of speed together so the more your neighbours use the internet the more your speed drops

Sluggishness may also be due to a computer’s poor health (Windows wise)

England in my opinion has way shittier internet! They are way more unreliable, shitty contracts, bad response times, packet loss, etc
