England only managed to obtain two votes out of a possible twenty two and the reasons for such dismal failure should be considered.

Prince William enthused at some length about how much the English sporting public LOVED the game of football. I think he was probably a poor candidate for such an emotive speech since, it is well known that he (and his Brothers) are regular and enthusiastic patrons of Twickenham (where Rugby is the attraction) and he has been known to make disparaging comments about the 'Hooliganism' that attends the 'inferior' game of football.

David Beckham follows up, expounding the virtues of the English attitude to the game, he declares his loyalty and devotion to the sport of his native land YET, chooses to house his family in the United States of America.

David Cameron then announces the fact that England is ready and willing to host the event, he declares that England is the obvious choice at a time when his own position (as Prime Minister) is being questioned by the 'Football Loving' (some facing starvation) general public, who are beginning to doubt whether he supports Liberal, Labour OR Conservative policies.

Meanwhile, news of the football 'Hooliganism' at Birmingham the night before, has reached the ears of those who are invited to cast their votes.

I wonder WHY England failed to secure more than two votes ?.

One of the votes was their own (maybe), so the question is, who was the ONLY other vote cast for England.??

Knowing their sense of humour, I would not put it past the Russians !.  (unless England cheated and cast two for themselves) it's possible.

cameroon voted for england because they mistakenly thought the british prime minister (who accompanied becks and wills to present the english bid) had changed his name in their honour.

soccer should be a banned sport... watching men in shorts kicking a ball around is not fun... its a gay sport.

they make so many millions though the pay would be nice.

Perhaps schnauzer you can illuminate us all with some equally biased and bigoted input on the performance of the other bidders -

and as for football hooligans ........ Not just an issue for England I think

Certainly an issue in Cyprus and Russia too

It can’t possibly be as gay as sending badly spelt and senseless messages all day via the latest phone just for the heck of it!

Now that’s a seriously gay boy’s pastime and trademark…
