Good morning Olga-i notice that you live in Limassol. We have never visited that side of the Island, we have always stayed around Protaras region. Funnily enough when we return in July, we have thought about visiting Limassol, as i have read many reviews saying how nice the beaches are, and the shops! We will definately return to the Troodos mountains, especially Trimikini Village.......we thought it was lovely . Question for you Olga-as Protaras is around 3hours driving time away from Paphos, would you think it would be possible to rent an apartment just for 1night when we come over next year, or will it be hard to find one, as it will be "peak" holiday season? I just thought that it would be better to stay in Paphos overnite, so we could do a lot of sight seeing in that area, rather than driving all the way back to Protaras, and losing 3hours . Nice to hear from you Olga, stay in touch, and look after your baby. xx |

Hi louisebabe
You should be able to drive from Protaras to Paphos in 2 hours; getting accommodation for one night is not a problem, even in peak periods.

Hi lousiebabe
Paphos is the 4th largest town in Cyprus, but probably the fastest growing (arguably not a good thing!) but it is the resort of choice for most holiday makers coming to our island as well as most retirees.
In places, it is a little European - or perhaps I should say British, as Brits dominate the expat/holidaymaker population here. Having said it is still my favourite part of the island; I tried a Larnaca/Ayia Napa/Protaras weekend earlier this year and still preferred Paphos.
Has loads of bars/tavernas, but now a new breed of upmarket European restauarnars too. Plus a water park, go cart tracks and other entertainments. The beaches are not as good as on the eats coast but Coral Bay is pretty OK and safe swimming. My advice, still stay the night, you will not hope to see much in one day.

Hi Lana. May still do the overnite trip then-like you say, we could then soend 2days in Paphos. I know one day wont be enough to see all the sights around Paphos. I know we are not going until next July, but i may start thinking about looking for a room in Paohos soon, as i would want to book it, for peace of mind. Or do you think Lana, that if we just go up next year, we should be able to get a room? Im sure there will be be some Hotels or apts with a vacancy for one night only. |

Hi louisebabe
Unless ther is a huge upturn in tourism, you will be Ok booking late. Although tourism numbers are generally up, there has been a huge shift to people not staying in hotels, but rather their own or friends holiday homes or renting a holiday home, leaving hotels and commercial apartments relatively quiet.

Ive already started putting the wheels in motion! I have made a couple of enquiries over the internet, to see if booking for 1night would be possible.......ive had a couple of responses, both saying yes, just to contact them when we are in Cyprus next year, so it looks positive! Looks like we will be staying in Paphos after all, if everything goes according to plan....... |

Hi Louisebabe!
I really like to talk to you and feel really good knowing that you care!
Sorry, I could not reply because of problems with my internet but today I am again in the forum!
You said about counting weeks until you come to Cyprus again. It’s very much like me!
Your holiday is actually not that far!
You were saying about Paphos earlier. I can say that I like this place as well, however, I did not see that much in Paphos. We came just for 3-4 hours. You know that’s not much time to see a lot. But in general Paphos gave a good impression.
You were saying earlier (hmm, I missed a lot) that you read about nice beaches and shops in Limassol. Well, I believe the best beaches are not, unfortunately, in Limassol. I cannot say they are bad, they are ok but not the best. However, I like shops here
Regarding the village of Fikardou, it’s located (as it’s written in the booklet) in the Troodos forest. I wanted to go there on weekend and to tell you after about but did not manage to do so. Still, I have not given up my idea!
Take care! See you soon here! |
