Best places to buy computer hardware

Postby Sotos » Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:56 pm

I want to build an HTPC and I am looking for places to buy the hardware! http://www.eshopcy.com.cy/ used to have good prices and I was often buying from them because I didn't need to pay or wait for shipping. But now their prices are not competitive anymore. http://www.pixmania.com.cy/ has ok prices and their shipping is fast (2 days) but they don't have a very big selection of computer parts. http://www.amazon.co.uk/ prices are about the same as pixmania, they have a bigger selection, but their standard shipping is quite slow. Anybody knows of any other local stores or websites that will ship to Cyprus that have good prices, good selection of products and relatively fast shipping?

I'm in the same process...

In the end, I'm about to order this from Amazon.

The price is good, it will do what I need (streaming TV) and I can live with the delivery time...

I ordered this morning from pixmania. I could get the same price from Amazon, which is apparently more reliable, but pixmania has 2 days UPS delivery to your door, so I went with that as I want it as fast as possible! By the way, if you are considering Atom, have you considered Zacate by AMD. They are apparently better Example Personally I went with an Athlon II X2 250 and a dedicated 6450 video card. Price is the same and you get much more power than either Atom or Zacate and unless you are interested in low power consumption or very small form factor to fit everything in a tiny case then I think that system is better. Actually you could even go with Athlon II X2 + 880G motherboard without dedicated graphics card and pay less than the Atom and get more power.

Have a look at this place.

Haven't ordered yet but prices look keen and when I added a motherboard to my basket it said 'UPS to Cyprus - Free'.

This seems like a very new shop ... not sure if I would trust them. Prices seem ok but not better than Amazon or pixmania (for the components I wanted). Free UPS shipping would be nice ... but something tells me this is a mistake. Let me know if you order from them and if they deliver free without any problems!

The best online computer hardware store is this

https://www.overclockers.co.uk

wouldn't even consider anything else other than them.

Their prices seem good and they have some good offers. Do they ship to Cyprus?

I just tried overclockers.co.uk and they do ship to Cyprus. Problem is that shipping adds up with every additional product. To buy the same things from Overclockers I would have to pay more than 42 euro shipping. With pixmania I paid 19 euro for everything for 2 day delivery with UPS.
