Turkey's Foreign trade deficit soars by 79.2 percent in June

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You will find Turkey can ONLY sell what she produces in military hardware to third world countries to replace their pick-up trucks and the remainder for Turkey itself. Even then, engines of these tanks and armoured vehicles are imported from the west and at the very most, the export for 2014 of these military hardware is about $2 Billion USD. Not much is left for Turkey once they have to pay for the engines and transmissions to foreign countries, which provides them to Turkey. As usual, Turkey likes to brag about her defence industry as being "home made", but major components are always imported from the west.

Imagine what the "miserable" numbers would be for Turkey if they used Turkey's true uneployment rate, which is around 35%-40% since most women do not work or have ever worked and are not counted.

Turkey among top ten ‘miserable' economies

Turkey is among the world's 10 most miserable economies, according to a Bloomberg survey data released on Tuesday.

Bloomberg has analyzed the economic situation in 51 countries and believes that Venezuela, Argentina, South Africa, Ukraine and Greece are "the five most painful economies in which to live and work." Bloomberg said its so-called “misery index” is "a simple equation: unemployment rate + change in the consumer price index = misery." Turkish unemployment was 10.7 percent in November, a near four-year high. Turkish joblessness persistently remained in double digits for much of last year. Moreover, the rate of unregistered employment was 33.9 percent, meaning that one in every three people employed in Turkey are working without social security benefits.

Inflation in Turkey rose to 7.55 percent in February from 7.24 percent in January, remaining significantly above the central bank's target. To make things even worse, the strength of the dollar and political pressure on the central bank pushed the Turkish lira to a historic low of 2.56 against the US dollar on Wednesday.

Turkish women still can’t break the glass ceiling

Women make up only 30 percent of Turkey’s labor force, according to a new report from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released on March 5.

The employment rate for women in Turkey is 27.1 percent, while it is 65.2 percent for men, according to TÜİK. Compared to European countries, this rate is well below that of Sweden at 72.5 percent and even lower than that of Greece at 39.9 percent.

Well it looks like the the US banks are voting with there feet and getting out of Turkey. Davutoglu's invasion of New York did not work, I wonder if Erdo will send the troops in to persuade the Americans to support the lira. Typically, as a dictator, Erdogan believes he can bully the international currency markets into accepting his view.

Economists claimed that Davutoğlu's attempts to salvage the Turkish lira failed as Citibank sold its 9.9 percent shares in Akbank, worth some $800 million. Citigroup sold its near-10 percent stake in Turkey's Akbank for $1.2 billion, the US lender said on Thursday, its latest disposal of overseas assets to cut costs and boost capital.

You don't say!

Hey, don't try to convince me that Turkey is just one ladder step above a 3rd world country. Tell it to Erdogan who thinks Turkey is a World Super Power, militarily and economically.

What was it what Davutoglu said a year or so ago, that not even a bird can flab it's wings in the Middle East without Turkey's approval!
