The Cypriot team currently leads the championship and, with many British premiership and championship players as well as semi-professionals in French clubs within the squad, it is accepted that this team will win the competition and gain promotion for next season. Despite this, Luxembourg's goal was to improve on their 50-0 defeat at the hands of Cyprus at home last May.

The fact that a totally amateur team was able to hold a team containing professional and semi-professional players scoreless for 52 minutes proves the ability of the squad, and that ability needs to be transferred into belief for the team to realise its potential.
