Advantage Cyprus.

...thus the circles i am talking about; from Cyprus to the EU, one way through Turkey.....

WHY????

My bet is that the Turks will just end up paying for whatever Cypriot gas they consume, consider that their share.

Its highly unlikely that the EU will be buying Cypriot gas via Turkey.

I really don't care what the EU would like to do. I say that there is no need for us to make the Turks partners to our business.

Not even if it meant liberating Cyprus?

not partners, but customers.

The alternative is, the status quo remains, Cyprus loses out on a potential end to the occupation as well as the Turkish market.

Turkey has shit for brains regardless.

Cyprus could prove having worse if they do not exploit hydrocarbon finds in such a way that they are liberated.

For Turkey, it boils down to this, illegally occupy northern Cyprus or completely withdraw from the island, pay compensation and buy gas from Cyprus.

Is the gas a big enough carrot for Turkey to budge?

It depends how you handle it and what's on offer...

sure, anyone will buy a dollar for 80 cents. I was thinking more along the lines of.

> Turkey withdraws, relocates all settlers and whoever else prefers to go back to Turkey, lifts all claims, ratifies law of sea, respects CY sovereign territory, international law, etc.
> Turkey pays for infrastructure between Cyprus and Turkey.
> Turkey compensates Cyprus, for example, restoration of Varosha and other damages.
> Turkey buys Cypriot gas as a customer.

Do you really believe that Turkey will withdraw from Cyprus peacefully just so that some of our gas will go to Europe through its territory?
Turkey will try and will keep trying to control all of it by maintaining its military presence and threat on the island. In the worse senario for her she will consent to being a partner of the RoC using the TC community as an instrument to achieve that.
