Occupy The Buffer Zone

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

This might turn out to be something along the lines of the Indignados of Spain and the Occupy movement in the USA.

What will it achieve? It will be a message to the establishment on both sides. The people are young, but seem to be of voting age. If the movement persists and brings in other age groups with different grievances it can send a loud message. We will see as the weather gets colder. If they can keep up in the cold, it will be telling.

Interesting that the local press ignored them at first. Typical reaction of a press that long ago stopped looking at the reality around them.

They expect to achieve something which is alien to you.

They expect to achieve and fulfill the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.

In particular, they intend to bring forth some articles to all of Cyprus and for all Citizens, even to the part that is illegally occupied and pillaged by those that do not comprehend the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, such as;

Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions may be founded only upon the general good.

The aim of all political association is the preservation of the natural and imprescriptible rights of man. These rights are liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression.

All citizens, being equal in the eyes of the law, are equally eligible to all dignities and to all public positions and occupations, according to their abilities, and without distinction except that of their virtues and talents.

Since property is an inviolable and sacred right, no one shall be deprived thereof except where public necessity, legally determined, shall clearly demand it, and then only on condition that the owner shall have been previously and equitably indemnified.

The young of Cyprus will storm your Bastille. THAT is what they WILL achieve.

An update from the Occupation.

The UN are causing some problems. The Occupiers write...

...The UN handed us a list of impossible to comply with rules for "bicommunal activities in the buffer zone", of course we reiterated that this is not a bicommunal activity, this is an occupation...

A reminder that there's a open invite to all to go down tomorrow, Saturday night, to join the protest, or just to to meet and find out more about the occupation etc.

Here's the invite as issued by the Occupiers...

This Saturday at 6pm, when we would usually be gathering in the buffer zone, we will be welcoming your support on a week long occupation! Come down and participate in our workshops and show your support! For those of you that want to occupy before Saturday, we are eager to receive you!
