Nice post GR - lots of Juicy stuff. I am not particularly anti-or Pro American but I have always treated their foreigh and arms sales policies with some suspicion, particularly with their appaling track record in installing and supporting corrupt and despotic regimes but this really shows how low both the Tur*s and the *ank's can get and how morally corrupt they both are.

I hope that major political figures of and within the EU are reading this (EG Jack Straw) or is it likely that some of them have been bunged too to turn a blind eye to the many Ottoman and/or later Turkish Crimes, including both the Armenian Genocide and the Rape of Cyprus.

Very useful information. Nice post.
No bribes recorded yet for a YES to the Annan Plan? I think a few of our politicians should be investigated there.

Scroll down to the section “Turkey” in this link…

“Turkey is a signatory to the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention.

However, in Transparency International’s recent Progress Report on enforcement of the OECD Convention, Turkey was one of 21 countries with “little or no enforcement.” Turkey was found to have “significant inadequacies in the legal framework for prohibiting foreign bribery” including “insufficient definition of the foreign bribery offense,” “lack of criminal liability for corporations,” and ”inadequate sanctions in law and/or practice.” Turkey was also found to have “significant inadequacies in the enforcement system to punish foreign bribery” including “inadequate resources,” and ”lack of specialized training.” Turkey was also found to have “inadequate criminal and corporate laws to hold parent companies responsible for bribery in foreign countries by subsidiaries, agents and other intermediaries.””

For Turks, signatures are easy to scribble and even easier to forget... :?

This suspected bribe is unconfirmed but what else could possibly explain a European politician saying… “Europe is now a regional player, but we need Turkey if we want a global role.”!

And of course one should not forget the "subtle" bribe in the Orams case where the UK Prime Minister's wife was bribed hundreds of thousands of ££££s to defend the indefensible. Human Rights lawyer my arse!

I believe Jack Straw is not averse to a few free trips to Turkey. A small price to pay for all his efforts...

All these negative posts about the 'Bribing Turks' is quite disgusting (imho)

I know of a chap in England who approached a Turkish gentleman (in an Estate Agents) and offered him £1,000 if he could help him convince a seller to reduce the price of a property by £10,000.

The Turkish gentleman was absolutely 'Livid' and threatened to throw the chap out of the office for suggesting such an arrangement, "If you want THAT kind of reduction" said the Turkish gentleman "It will cost you £5,000 at least !".
