Can anyone tell me of their experiences on this trip?
How much money will you likely want to take?
and what currency?
We go to Protaras 9 October 2005

I made this cruise some years ago. Since you will spent most of your time on the ship you should choose a good ship and a good cabin. How much money you should take depends on what you want to do. If you don't want to buy anything then take 50 pounds. It will be enough. Dollars, Euros and Cyprus pounds are all accepted in Egypt :D

I had this cruise also some years ago when I just came to Cyprus for vacation. Personally, I liked it.
For me 2 days cruise was perfectly ok. I would not like to spend more time there.
They show you pyramids, a museum (I don't remember the name), take you to the place where they make papyruses, take you to some shop etc.
And it was ok at the ship also.
Our cabin was quite good, not the best one. But I am not fastidious :)
I think you should take this trip :)

You can buy the cruise with a credit card. But you will have to buy most of the little things on the ship and Egypt with cash.

Just would like to mention that the coach-trip from Port Said to Kairo is quite long. If I remember right it was 4 or 5 hours...

2 day trip to Egypt

Postby eputhlad » Fri Sep 30, 2005 12:14 pm

 Having read all your useful comments and other literature we are definitely going on the trip to Egypt as it is a place where we have always wanted to go and this will give us a taster.
However we are undecided as to a cruise or the plane.
The cruise sounds good as we have never been on one ( even a mini one like this) but will the time eat in too much to our two weeks at Protaras and possible limit our chance to see the locallity by trips/car hire
The plane would not occupy so much time, but it would be a long day , but give more time in Cairo

Does anyone know the bus journey time to Limassol if we opt for the cruise :?:
Also the time to Pafos airport if we go for the plane trip :?:

Finally is there a dress code for entering the Museum at Cairo :?:

thanks

As I remember we were not asked to get dressed in any special way when visiting the Cairo Museum :)
