doubt that will help: what command are you thinking of running? A (re)boot with a size nine/43 is unlikely to do much for it either.

what are the precise symptons/screen messages etc from turning on?

Ron, if you like download and install the following utility on the offending laptop.

(Get the one that reads “For the instant customer” next to it)

http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/index.aspx

Tomorrow night (Thursday) at 8:30pm do the following…

1. Log onto the forum with the offending laptop wired to the Thomson.

2. Minimize the CF and run the “TeamViewer QuickSupport” utility you installed earlier.

3. Send me a private message with those numbers and password that will appear when you run this tool.

4. Sit back and watch me fix it remotely (free of charge).

er,,, how does he download tand install the utility on the offending laptop if he cannot connect the laptop to the internet?

I am not getting involved because I am a techie!!!!!

Some people should just not be allowed to have a computer.
