Russia Warns Against Laying Blame for Suspected Chemical Attack on Damascus

The UN Security Council (UNSC) held an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the suspected chemical attack in Syria's province of Idlib. The United Kingdom, France and the United States introduced a draft resolution in the UNSC claiming that the alleged April 4 chemical attack in Idlib was carried out by the Syrian army. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow categorically rejected the draft resolution.

Maybe we should remember less convenient past history? One of the comments on the above article:

“Monsters and amazing Lies: Trump says: He accused Assad of "gas poison" incident of 4 April 2017 and said, "The Syrian massacre is a terrible insult to humanity" Is this possible for common sense this lie ? The biggest user of chemical poisons-weapons in the history of mankind is America, 80 million liters of America is poured on Vietnam dioxin - Agent Orange carcinogenic dioxin, then is poured on North Korea 25 million liters of chemical poisons. How can humanity bear this terrible evil, and these horrible lies monstrous evil.” :( :x

USS Cole, and Porter fire Tomahawk missiles (upwards 40) against an airbase, in Syria.

Russia to Demand Urgent UN SC Meeting Following US Missile Strike on Syria

US Had No Contact with Moscow Prior or After US Attack on Syrian Airfield
Russia will demand an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) in connection with the Thursday missile strike launched by the United States on a military airfield in Syria’s Homs province, Victor Ozerov, the chairman of the Russian Federation Council's Committee on Defense and Security, told Sputnik.
On Thursday night, the United States launched over 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Syrian military airfield in Ash Sha’irat, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the city of Homs.

"Russia will first of all demand an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council. This can be regarded as an act of aggression on the part of the US against a UN state," Ozerov told Sputnik on Friday, commenting on the Thursday US attack.

"After this incident the already clouded relations with the US will somewhat worsen," Victor Ozerov told Sputnik on Friday, adding that the missile attack will likely be "a very bad example for the armed opposition in Syria, which could put under question the agreements reached with the opposition, including in Geneva."

Ozerov stressed that military cooperation between Russia and the United States could be at risk because of the Thursday strike as US had failed to communicate properly on the matter.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement after the US attack that there were no discussions or prior contacts between the United States and Moscow ahead of the missile strike on the Syrian base.

This attack on Syria by the USA, the first direct attack since the war started, will only escalate the conflict and might even herald the start of something much bigger.

The Russians were not apparently notified in advance of this strike. I have persistently regarded Western involvement as anathema, a disastrous involvement in a conflict that has gone on for so long and still continues.

Russia intervened on the invitation of the legal Syrian government. The USA was not requested to get involved.

The brutal Assad dictatorship is Russia's pawn in the region, so of course it issued an 'invitation'. So what? Either condemn all imperialist and neo-imperialist interventions in the region, or none, and at least be consistent.

US Attack in Syria a Show of Force - Russian Foreign Ministry

US attack in Syria is nothing else than a show of force, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday. The decision to attack Syria was made ahead of Idlib chmical incident, used as a pretext for this demonstration of strength.

The US missile strikes on Syria airfield os a clear act of aggression against sovereign Syria, the Russia Foreign Ministry said.

It is obvious that the US missile attack in Syria was prepared "in advance," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.

"It is clear that the decision to conduct the strike [in Syria] was made in Washington before the incident in Idlib, which was used as a pretext for this demonstration of strength," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

US Attack on Syria Constitutes Aggression Under False Pretense - Russian MP
The US missile attack on the Sha'irat airfield in Syria further degrades Russian-US relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
"The actions taken today by the US further destroy Russian-US relations," the ministry said in a statement.

The United States launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Syrian military airfield in Ash Sha'irat near Homs late Thursday. US President Donald Trump said the attack was a response to the alleged chemical weapon use in Idlib on Tuesday, which Washington blames on Damascus.

"Without bothering to figure anything out, the US moved toward a demonstration of strength, to military resistance against a country that is fighting international terrorism," the ministry said.

Russia was invited by the elected Government of Syria by its elected President to help it defeat a foreign inspired, supported and armed insurgency to overthrow that government ("Assad must go!" ....does that ring a bell with you?) ...... the US coalition were the supporters of that insurgency, provided the terrorists with weapons ........ and were definitely not invited!

So ........... who is it who has interfered in another country's affairs ? :x
