parking ticket, help

Postby donkeykong » Mon Mar 12, 2012 10:58 am

hi guys and gals,

can anyone give me a hand with this please ?

apparently I've got a parking ticket sometime during last December but did not find any notification on the car etc. The company I work for ( on which the car is registered) got a call saying that if we don't pay the ticket it's going to go to court etc and that someone will send the ticket via post mail. Long story short, we haven't got any notification for about 1 week so this morning I have called the police traffic department and they told me that the fine already went to the court and that I will receive the new ticket in 3-4 months time.

now my questions would be :

1. has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing ? What happens now ? Is the new fine going to be way larger than the usual 80-100 parking fine ?
2. is there any way to see anyone about this ? I do not think it's fair to get a fine on top of a fine because the system has failed to notify me properly in the first place

Please help, if you can.

Thank you

I had a very similar problem 1-2 years ago. A cop arrived at the door and served me with a court paper that claimed that 2 years earlier I had parked on a pavement, got a ticket, and hadn’t paid the fine! Naturally I was shocked because I couldn’t remember such an incident although I do have a customer in the building just above! :?

From the court paper I think the initial fine was about €80 and I figured that had I defended myself it would've cost a lot more than that, so I asked at a police station what my options were and a nice guy explained…

1. I could go to a special police admin office where all the pending court cases are kept (sorry but I forget the name of this office) and write at the back of their copy…”I admit offence to this traffic violation” and sign it, and a couple of months later I would get sent a fine for about €150.

2. Do nothing and the court would judge me in absentia and I’d probably get a fine arriving in the mail a couple of months later for about €350!

Now, I know this whole thing sucks but the €150 option seemed like a good deal to me!

I do know how you feel mate… :(

Cool, thank you for letting me know, I thought it's going to be worse than what you described :)

It does suck, especially since you are not notified about it in time ( that bullshit with I left some paper on your windshield is just that - bullshit), but oh well, we are all cogs in the shitstem, what can we do.
