My boyfriend is a British citizen and Im a Hong Kong citizen. He's planning to take a long holiday in Cyprus for up to 6 months and Im going to join him in Cyprus. We're going to rent an apartment in Cyprus.

Being a HKSAR passport holder, Im not required to obtain a travel visa to go to Cyprus. However the agreement between Cyprus and the HKSAR government is that I can only visit for a maximum of 3 months. I'll have to leave Cyprus after 3 months.

Anyone knows if it's possible for me to extend my length of stay in Cyprus by applying for a temporary residence? I've sent an email to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ask for information but said my case is under the authority of Department of Civil Registry and Migration of the Ministry of Interior. So I've send another email to them but havent heard from them so far (almost 3 weeks).

My boyfriend and I are thinking to deal with my visa issue when we arrive Cyprus. The worst situation is that we leave after 3 months. As I mention earlier, we're going to rent an apartment for 6 months, if we leave 3 months earlier, it's a waste of money

I dont intend to work in Cyprus but just hope to extend my travel visa up to 6 months. Anyone knows what can I do?

You can go to the immigration office and extend your visa. You will go the first time to set appointment and they will tell you what paperwork you need to bring with you. Alternatively you can just exit Cyprus for a week or so and then come back for another 3 months.

So you think it's possible for me to extend the visa?? I'm just worried that they may think I've got no right reason to stay for longer than 3 months. They may not even consider my application.

The agreement is that I can travel to Cyprus without a travel visa but I can't stay for longer than 3 months within 6 month-time. So if I exit Cyprus after 3 months I can't come back for another 3 months.
