Main telephone lines (landlines): 412.972
56,73 lines per 100 people

Cytamobile-Vodadone
Pay Monthly: 326.484 customers (doesn't include Areeba)
44,85 lines per 100 people
Pay as you go soeasy: 337,242 (doesn't include Areeba)
46,33 lines per 100 people

Internet
CYTANET 56K and ISDN only: 52.521 customers (doesn't include other 56K ISPs like Spidernet, est total of 250,000 customers for all ISPs)

NetRunner ISP for Broadband: 18.650 customers

i-choice broadband platform: 23.903 customers

ISDN: 28.243 customers

Broadband Customers are estimated to be around 25,000 (10% of Total internet users which are around 250,000 people)

Just as a note, broadband use has been increasing quite fast recently, the above statistics where a snap-shot on July this year. In July last year (2004) Broadband users (i-choice) where just 13,616, an increase of 107% which is remarkable. By this time next year we should have around 58,000 broadband users.

Just as a note, it will be increasingly harder to get statistics as PrimeTel and CableNet are getting ready to offer Broadband in the future which will make collecting this information much harder as the Cyta monopoly will break.

From where did you get these statistics? One additional reason that broadband usage will increase is that recently the cost for dial-up has doubled. Twisted Evil

Yes, Cyta are obviously pushing customers towards broadband – they sent an e-mail to my dial-up account this week shamelessly pushing it!

Things are changing when it comes to Internet connectivity. The introduction of new charges from June 1 means that the cost of Internet access has dramatically changed. In the light of the present circumstances, CYTANET’s ADSL broadband connection service NetRunner may be the most advantageous.

NO way hazza!!!!!!! How could they have been so wrong in their calculations.... They haven't even covered 5% of Cyprus and they are bankrupt? What loosers. I'm so glad PrimeTel seems such a professional company (if their website is anything to go by)

ps. i knew something was up with cablenet, they have been sooo slow in expanding their network.

tell us more plz

Andy - They haven't paid their staff in over 2 months, and what they have paid is dribs and drabs. The 2 main guys have left the company because of this (the design engineers, they designed the whole network and pieced it all together).

Piriatis - I'm not sure I'm actually allowed to say, but I will say it is alot sooner than people will imagine. We've been slogging away working our guts out in pulling the lines and getting things ready. It will be very soon though Smile
