The EU's Enlargement Commissioner Stephan Fule will be rewarding Turkey for the continued occupation of CY with Pre-Accession Assistance funds next year of nearly 1 Billion Euros!!!

... which will bring the five year total given to Turkey by the Enlargement Commissioner to an astonishing 5 Billion Euros!!!..

5 Billion Euros of European Tax-payers Money made over for the waste-of-time applicant Turkey. A reward for occupation and for all the war-mongering threats we've seen in past months.

Fule's Enlargement Commission gives the reason for these funds as...

"The purpose of support under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) programme is to help candidate and potential candidate countries and territories – the Beneficiaries – to progress towards fully meeting the Copenhagen political and economic criteria as well as adopting and implementing the EU acquis. The Multi-beneficiary actions will complement and add value to the support given under the National Programmes."

It would cost Turkey ZERO to withdraw its Army of Occupation, it would cost Turkey NOTHING to meet the Copenhagen Criteria of opening airspace and ports to CY and it would cost Turkey BUGGER ALL to sign the Convention on the Law of the Sea and respect the CY EEZ.

... and it will save European Tax-Payers Billions of Future Euros to suspend this Rubbish Turkish Application.

all these goodies for the Turkish people makes me wonder how much of it is a benefit to Erdogan's party and their chances for reelection. i imagine that it is the Turkish government who chooses where this money is spent and on what projects.

note that cross-border cooperation has dropped, rural and regional development increased greatly.
