Turkey blocks membership of Israel and Cyprus in International Agency for Renewable Energy :!:

Voting on admission of new members to the IRENA was held in the UAE's capital Abu Dhabi. Given that Turkey is a member of the agency, the country was able to oppose the adoption of Cyprus and Israel to membership in IRENA.

The International Agency for Renewable Energies (IRENA) was established in January 2009 at its founding conference in Bonn. The event was attended by over 120 countries.

IRENA is the first organization on the intergovernmental level with the power to stimulate the development of renewable energy sources. The Agency aims to take its rightful place in the global energy sector, along with the IAEA and IEA.

The organization's charter is signed by 141 States (47 African, 37 European, 33 Asian, 15 representing the American continents, 9 - Australia and Oceania), and the European Union. The charter was ratified by 75 states and the EU by June 2, 2011.

The anti-jewish lobby in Turkey, no doubt encouraged by Erdogan's rantings, have gone further with this poster which has appeared in a mall in Istanbul in recent days...

Reported in the Jewish Press...

..."People who have been paying attention know that relations between Israel and Turkey have been eroding, but not many realize that Turkey is now not only openly hostile to the Jewish State, but also to the Jewish people.

On Friday, January 11, a Turkish citizen took a picture to show exactly how belligerent Turkey has become. The picture is of a huge poster with the words, “Who Would You Like to Meet if You Could?” and the last name, and only photograph, is of Adolf Hitler. The other choices include Suleiman I, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Napolean Bonaparte, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Vladimir Lenin, Boris Yeltsin, Leonardo Da Vinci, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Jackson. But only Hitler warranted a picture, a huge one at that.

According to Ege Berk Korkut, an active Turkish writer and blogger, the sign was placed in the Sapphire Mall by the owners, a group of Turkish businessmen who are devoted to Erdogan. Korkut explained to The Jewish Press that the Sapphire is an ultra-upscale mall in Levent, the wealthiest neighborhood in Istanbul. The Sapphire building is one of the tallest buildings in Europe..."

To be fair to the more decent thinking people of Turkey, a lot have complained but the owners of the mall are refusing to remove it.

Yes Me Ed and your research is a reminder to all of us to check these things.

... and there's more direct anti-Israel action reported, this time by the Rubbish Regime of "trnc" within the Occupied Areas...

The water treatment plant in Occupied Vokolida was modernised and is run by an Israeli Company. It supplies the tourist industry in the area.

The Sewage Regime of "trnc" are refusing to honour an agreement to pay the electricity supply for the plant, an agreement whereby the Israeli Company invested huge amounts up-front to update the plant to modern standards in return for "trnc" paying the lecky bills. The amounts invested by the Israeli Company are reported as being... "millions of dollars"...

In the light of disruptions to its electrical supply and the obvious coercion brought on by "trnc"'s failure to honour the agreement, the Israell Company may be left with no choice but to close down the works and leave.
