Ads are placed in the forum by Google. Currently there are about 80 websites black listed. Unfortunately it seems that new ads for property in the occupied areas are created every day.

If you notice any such ads please send their URL to me via a PM in order to black list them.

The parkl**.com one has already been blacklisted and it should be gone soon.

Dear Admin,

May I inquire what the reasons behind your actions are?

There is no legal precedent to those actions, in fact just the opposite - a ban in the UK has been recently overruled
Ban on Cyprus posters overruled

Therefore, your actions can only be motivated politically.

As I am sure you will continue to block those advertisements under the pretext that they advertise an "illegal" regime, just for the sake of consistency I suggest you also block all TCs from this forum, since they originate from an illgeal country as well.

I regret to say that such actions only serve to erode any assumed impartiallity and credibility on your side.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello Bg_turk,

What is legal and what is not is not relevant and I do not wish to enter any such discussion.

This forum provides free speech to its members within the limits of our rules and policies.

Which ads are displayed/blocked is something not related with their legality. It is also not related to the degree of freedom of speech in this forum.

As you understand no kind of decision can please everybody on this matter. I do what I believe is right and you of course have the right to disagree.

If you wish you can start a thread in the Politics section of the Forum and explain why such ads are legal or how the blocking of certain kind of ads from websites is equivalent to the blocking of the whole Turkish Cypriot community. Beyond that I hope you can accept that I am also entitled to my own opinion and that the running of this forum and the ads displayed in it is my responsibility and not yours.

Thanks

While I am grateful to the administration for the effort they put into running this forum, I cannot help but express my deep frustration with its attitude, which is nothing but biased.

I fully accept the right of the administration to have their own opinion but the right of revealing once opinion also carries the responsibility of defending it. What kind of advertisement are permitted would be a completely technical matter entirely under its jurisdiction, had the administration not chosen to discuss it in this thread and thank a forum member for assisting with blocking such advertisements. I hope you understand the political ramification of such a decision, and the strong demoralizing effect such an attitude has on some forum members.
In the future I would ask the administration not to discuss with forum members technical matters that can be linked to aspects of the cyprus dispute, unless they are prepared to give the reasons for their actions.

bg_turk,

I am trying to be as objective as possible but I am not a robot. Since objectiveness is subjective I can not be seen as objective by everybody.

I believe that leaving such ads would be harmful in general and would also give the right to some people to accuse me of profiting from the promotion of such websites. Actually this has already been done.

I can understand your point regarding technical matters. However this section of the forum is regarding the Cyprus-Forum website which includes technical matters so I don't agree that a response should not have been given.

Thanks
