Cheap labour is Turkey’s only desirable asset… not that the EU can’t find it elsewhere in Asia etc.

The Americans are the only people on the planet who find Turkey “useful” aside from cheap labour, although I haven’t figured out yet how they have benefited from Turks. :)

Maybe a TC can enlighten us...

I'd like to agree with you but the EU motor industry has invested huge sums in Turkey because it can produce cars more cheaply. I suppose they need to keep costs down to compete with the Far East producers like India and China. Turkey isn't far behind Italy and UK in the number of vehicles it makes. VW are looking to invest there too, it's a pity Greece can't tempt a fellow EU member to open a plant there.

i once found a dead fly in a can labeled Greek dolmadakia, you had to turn the can upside down to be able to read "Made in Turkey"
