Semi Finals vs Belgium never happened.
Netherlands were beaten by Moldova and so Cyprus lost the 2nd place

Next match and another fantastic result
Cyprus 45 - 7 Croatia

Totally gutted.
There's even talk about the Dutch throwing the game deliberately(on paper its plausible since Netherlands are vastly superior to Moldova) to exclude the on fire newbies, Cyprus.
But I cannot substantiate such claims.

Gold rush, as Cyprus overtakes Iceland for 2nd place. Even with a depleted team as a result of the economic situation.

Let's see if they can keep it up..

Seems like we ended up 2nd.

Not bad, considering many of our top athletes (e.g. K. Ioannou) have not participated, and there was no financial motivation for winning medals.

Reading through this page, I remembered the 1989 Games in Nicosia. Young kurupetos participated in those Games.

Not as an athlete, but as an entertainer (sort of). I remember holding some flowers.  :?
