Just to close this thread on a happy note: Fenerbahce’s ban confirmed and their place has been taken by Apoel!

APOEL, who were left stunned on Thursday night following a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Belgian side Zulte Waregem in the Europa League playoffs, were celebrating on Friday morning after the Cyprus champions were the lucky team to be picked in UEFA’s special draw of defeated playoff teams to replace excluded Fenerbahce

The Turkish side received a two-year ban from all European competitions by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday.

The draw for the group stage of the competition takes place in Nyon, Switzerland today at 2pm.

This will be the first time that Cyprus will have two representatives in the group stage of the Europa League.

Just closing off this thread for our Turkish readers (stpier where are you?) who might not necessarily check the Apoel thread. Don’t want them to miss the irony.
