What is effective in a room is that very powerful fly/mossie and everything else killer aerosol they sell in CY.

Can't remember it's name.

Aroxol. Amazing product line. You can kill almost everything.

You can't go trekking through the forest or sit outside at a restaurant and keep spraying this toxic stuff around.

@ a4gom - I thought DEET no longer worked?

Incidentally, I remember a couple of years ago my brothers and sisters, who live in the UK, were all out here in the summer and never stopped bitching about the mosquitoes, although oddly it didn't seem to me (I live here permanently!) that there were many around, and they complained that whatever remedy they used, it had no effect. Eventually I remembered that I had a half-full bottle of citronella oil lying around, a relic of a trip to Sri Lanka (where mosquitoes are no joke because malaria is endemic there). I suggested that they give that a try. They did and all of them then swore by it, saying that they never got another bite after rubbing that on. I have never been able to find anywhere that sells citronella oil in Cyprus, though, so you will need to bring it with you.

The mozzies don't seem to be a problem at all.

It is really interesting that all the moaners in this thread seem to live in the UK and are more Charlie than Cypriot! Must be the pale and Vitamin D starved skin.

33.5? You are lucky!

On the subject of mosquitoes, there is a sub-species of the illegitimates that you only find on the London Underground!

Not many people know that!

They're no as bad as the Heeland Midgie o' Jockland. Now that's an irritating wee beastie of uncertain fatherhood. A least the mossie has the grace to warn you wi ' his buzzin that he's about, nee like the silent but deadly midgie.
