What is your favourite Cypriot village?

Postby Paphitis » Sat Oct 12, 2013 10:25 am

OK, time to deviate from depressing politics and talk about something far more nicer and interesting.

I love many Cypriot Villages. I have a clear bias towards Paphos and some of the higher Troodhos villages. I have many favourites but I am not going to cop out and nominate Tsada.

So which village is your favourite? And why is it your favourite?

Is it the people, location, natural beauty, architecture, fields, highlands, or the local culture that attracts you?

If is hard to choose(like me), because there are so many, then tell us which villages you like.

Oh btw:

RULE Number 1 - you cannot nominate the village you come from.

For example. Miltiades can't nominate Stroumbi "the Great", Oracle can't nominate Polis and I can't nominate Tsada because that is clearly just too biased. Pick some other village/s you like.

And post some nice pictures too! :)

Pass through some gorgeous villages on the way upto Kykkos.

It's the cliffhanging houses that get me, built into hillsides up Troodos...talk about room with a view! Quaint and quiet. Just how I like it.

Since I can not nominate Stroumbi the Great I must nominate my favourie village or komopolis which undoubtedly is Platres.

There are many graphic villages all around Cyprus, one of my dreams is to tour the entire island and visit as many villages as feasible. I like Kakoptria, Pedoulas, Agros and many more. Platres I know quite well since my late mother came frrom Kato Platres and as a child I remember spending many days there.

Flying Horse, there are many approaches to Kykkos. You can get there from the back way in the Paphos Hills north of Tsada, from Limassol and from the Nicosia - Morphou highway. Personally, I prefer the Paphos and Limassol approaches. There are many great villages on the way. Which villages do you have in mind?

Miltiades, great choice! Platres is great. One of my favourites for sure. Also Kakopetria and Galata.

I'm not really from any Cypriot village, having not even been born in Cyprus. Excluding family villages;

1. Bellapais ( I like most villages within the Kyrenia mountain range
2.Esentepe (Agios Amvrosios)
3. The area around Dip Karpaz (Riso Karpas)

Yes come to think of it, Bellapais would have to be the prettiest Village in Cyprus. :(

How are you mate? Hope you are well.

Bloody ended up in Melbourne 3 weeks ago. Was meant to go to Sydney but was told to piss off because of the curfew at 1102 pm.
