PARADISE RIGHT HERE ON EARTH

Postby miltiades » Sun Nov 10, 2013 1:15 pm

Arrived here Friday gone, apart from a little rain on the way from Paphos to Limassol, the weather as you all know has been exquisitely , beautifully blue fantastic!

Nowhere else in Europe will anyone find this gorgeous sunny weather, and this is November !!

As I sit on my veranda, dressed in shorts and tea shirt, gazing at a clear and sunny blue sky, I feel my self coming alive and grateful that I was born right here in the paradise island of Cyprus.

Xinisteri is one of my favourite Cypriot white wines and real value for money at 2.49 euros a bottle!!!

Bought some " Ameletita" earlier today, and boy do they taste good with lemon, olive oil, and parsley, a fabulous accompaniment to white chilled wine.
I find my self repeating one of my " catch phrases " " TI WRAIA POU PERNOUME ! We are having a good time !!

My other ...quarter is with me enhancing and adding to my intense pleasure of being right here , in Paradise, and still alive !!

Very nice Miltiades!

I wish I was there now. Soon, but I need to find a new route to get to Tsada, avoiding Paphos, Konia and Polis. I get the cold shivers in those places! Creepy... :?

Meet up with Get Real and some others. Bury the hatchet once and for all, and hopefully not in each other's head.

On Tuesday I shall be going through Tsada, will think of you, on my way to Stroumbi the Great, After spending some time in the village will go to Paphos where we shall stay for two days. Naturally Im very fond of Paphos, its quaint harbour is so picturesque, boats and rather sophisticated... elderly English residents showing off their ..tattoos, and sun tanned torsos!!

Will try and visit my old mate Kafenes at the hotel that I last saw him playing and singing,

This phrase from your opening post shows how Anglicized you have become, "tea shirt"!

Don't forget those gawd awful Coknee geezers that scream.... 'oi, you English' at every person possible they feel the need to tout at!
Or have they buggered off these days to annoy another place?

Wish I was there. The Yorkshire climate has turned to doom and gloom, and we are trying to ignore it with Youtube vids of motorcycling through Europes scenery.

Talking about TEA, and in a serious mode, in August of 2011 I faced the prospect of being put on insulin, as progressive diabetics are ie,my 74 year old brother and our ...very young dear friend Deniz.

I had been a diabetic for 12 years then, 14 years to date, inherent in my family as my other two brothers also are as well as 17 out 19 first cousins. The two that were not, alas passed away, one from cancer the other who was the older first cousin, had a heart attack. The irony here is that my sister who was not a diabetic also went from the dreaded cancer!!

Will you please stand on the scales my Dr asked, why I replied, I have just looked at your last quarterly blood tests and at 12.9 ( 232 in Cypriot readings ) its time you go on insulin, I paused for a minute and thought of my other ...quarter watching a ....virile young man ( I was only 65 then ) injecting himself !!

Doctor I said, give me 3 months and I will get it down, how he enquired, are you going to give up wine
Not likely I responded, Im going to do a research without taking into account the so called experts who continually contradict each other, I was fed up by that time with these experts telling me to give up ...wine !!!

5 months later I was back at the Drs to hear my latest blood tests, John he said, I think there has been am error here you will have to have another blood test , your reading shows 6.9 and since the last one was 12.9 Im certain an error has occurred, No I responded , there is no error, Yes he said handing me out blood test forms.

A week later and back at the surgery to hear the results ,6.9 again,(124) I cant believe it the Dr said, and instead of insulin this time he reduced my metformin from 800mg 3 times a day to 500mg 3 times a day,
Did you cut the wine out he asked, are you joking I replied, still a bottle a day, two on Sundays, 3 when not feeling well and unlimited when in Paradise island or in ...Belarus

Well folks if anyone is interested to hear how I did I will continue, but let me say that TEA has much to do with my discovery, a great deal in fact .
