LUPUS

As LUPUS (S.L.E.= Systemic lupus erythematosus /D.L.E. =discoid lupus erythematosus ) has increasing outbreaks in Cyprus...

Do we really know what is lupus?
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body like skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body.
Its separated as S.L.E. [ Systemic Lupus Erythematosus,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systemic_lupus_erythematosus
and as
D.L.E. [ Discoid Lupus Erythematosus,

Are the medical staffs aware of the symptoms so they can sense the possibility of such a serious illness as Lupus and refer the patient to the appropriate doctor, the appropriate check-ups and the appropriate treatment?
Usually patients go through hell before medical staffs can pin-point the cause and refer the patient to a Rheumatologist.
Lupus can be misdiagnosed.
There were cases in CY where patient’s ended up in coma or with internal organs damaged as the doctors were unable to pin-point the illness.

So do your reading... may it be just another useless information you know...but keep it in mind and it might help and save someone’s life.

Are we turning into a bunch of hypochondriacs? :)

SoulRose, has this condition touched your life?

Or ist it about time we face whats infront of us?!?!? :)
There has been and increase in Cyprus (and especially in Paphos area) of people been affected by this adorable illness that is worse than cancer... cause with cancer, you know your enemy...
Lets just say that i was a kid when i had to look it up in the Encyclopedia, take notes and pass them on to the so-called doctors of Cyprus back in the 80's. Before that i saw them experimenting and turturing a dear person to me and since then... i saw that person battle with lupus and cancer... cancer has been beaten... lupus is still there...

Although I've heard of this condition, I have, fortunately, never known anyone suffer from it. I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I hope they are not too severely affected.

Is the increase (Paphos area) restricted to the increase in foreign-born dwellers?

I see Lady Gaga has it and Michael Jackson did. Maybe it's just become another celebrity catch-all condition that is being over-diagnosed?
