Intransigent Eroglu Refuses Joint Statement

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Intransigent Eroglu Refuses Joint Statement

Postby bill cobbett » Tue Nov 26, 2013 1:20 am

Pres A and the Turkish Collaborator Eroglu met for coffee a few hours ago at a restaurant in the BZ.

After 3 hours of talks and several cups of CY and Turkish coffee, the ever-Intransigent Eroglu is still refusing to agree a simple joint statement to re-affirm the end goal of the talks.

It really is very simple ..."single sovereignty, single international personality and single citizenship."

Eroglu's goal is of course Two Sovereignties, Two International Personalities and Two Citizenships.

The waster, waster of time and waste of space, Eroglu will have to go... or at least have to be sidelined.

According to an informed source the Greek Cypriot representatives were...

... surprised by the extreme positions of the Eroglu group. “They told us things that they had not said before in the recent past,” said a source who knows perfectly what passed during the head-to-head meeting.

Yes, confirmed by Politis.

Which reports...

Eroglu went in to the meeting determined that things would lead to deadlock.

That Pres A has said that there's little point in going to Apostolos Andreas with Eroglu.

That Eroglu and Ertug had presented positions that were even more extreme than in the past.

That Eroglu insists on Two Founding States.

That Eroglu had presented two drafts at the meeting, neither of which satisfied the requirement for "one sovereignty, one international personality and a single citizenship"

That Pres A had answered, that disagreements over the nature of a federation must be settled now or they will face problems again in the future.

So after two and a half hours there was agreement to disagree and all that remains is whether the meetings of the negotiators will continue.

A few days ago in the TC media, they were talking about how the TRNC just made a contract in Pakistan to upgrade their representative office to a full-on embassy. Couple that with this meeting and Eroğlu's statement a few days ago that the Cyprus problem should be solved in 3 months or else, and you see exactly what's going on. Looks like Turkey finally remembered why she's in Cyprus in the first place.

According to GC negotiator Andreas Mavrogiannis during last night's talks Eroglu stuck to a hard-line stance of two independent, sovereign states abandoning the idea of a unified federal solution:

Extreme position for two sovereign states gave the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu yesterday's informal meeting with the President of the Republic.

Speaking on state radio negotiator G / C side Mavrogiannis Andreas said that the T / C side persists as the two states retain their sovereignty and their nationals while wishing to delegate only some minor powers to the central power.

The main Mavrogiannis also stated that TMP made a great effort to convince Mr. Eroglu to move from the end position without no result.

The main Mavrogiannis also stated that the president of the Republic presented things in perspective future and stressed that at this stage instead of discussing the terms of reunification of Cyprus to discuss the terms of a future divorce.

The phrase "single sovereignty, single international personality and single citizenship" is an old one. It appears several times in the past.

Here, for instance, is Pres X on 28/2/2008 using the words...

"single sovereignty, single international personality and single citizenship."

Has anyone called you a lying prat tonight Bordo...???
