I don't pretend to know anything about cricket!

My eldest son LOVES playing cricket for a local team, when I was younger I sat with an ex doing the scores(or whatever they call it) I've TRIED to 'get it' and attempt to like it

Sadly, I just can't and I find it boring. Sorry! :(

Then how can you say the game is boring if you can't even understand what is going on?

Sorry, but watching a few local games is not enough. Cricket is an acquired taste to say the least. It is a sport that grows on you and after a while you realize that it is a sport that offers a great deal more than most.

Acquired taste  you make it sound that one has to have discerning and sophisticated taste, is this what the Pakistanis and other minus third world have then, an acquired taste, come on Paphitis stop fooling your self, the game is a total bore, the reason the entire world scorns it !

Yes it is an acquired taste and it takes a lot of time to grow on you like a mature expensive red!

Now watch the videos!

It's not just the Pakis that are good at Cricket. The West Indies were great, We have India, South Africa, NZ, AUS, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, and England.

Even the likes of you and Erolz would consider some of those countries as more "civilized" than Cyprus.

BTW, Pakistan is bloody awesome, and the sections of society that follow Cricket are not likely to be the "Barbarians" as you would call them.

That's a start because Cricket continues to be played even when they break for tea or lunch.

It is an intense game of psychological warfare and the current Ashes Series has already had a load of off field drama to accompany the on field sledging.

Cyprus Cricket needs to break Boon's record of 52 cans of beer on a single flight.
