Poor you KP. I will suggest you get a one wAy ticket to hell from BillC. He can procur anything. Its a tad warmer there. Besides, you will not be alone.

To be honest, right now it's not warm in suburban Nicosia. There is some light snow fall as I post this. :shock:

I have in fact found out that Colour was something that something that some ancient Greek writers used to characterise entire races: A writer (or writers) often called Psuedo-Aristotle writing in about 300 BC wrote thus in the treatise "Physiognomy":

Those who adopted the second method proceeded in the same way, except that they did not draw their inferences from all kinds of animals but confined themselves to human beings: they distinguished various races of men (e. g. Egyptian, Thracian, Scythian) by differences of appearance and of character, and drew their signs of character from these races just as others did from animal genera.

Too black a hue marks the coward, as witness Egyptians and Ethiopians, l and so does also too white a complexion, as you may see from women.

(Note he was sexist too.....)
and further on

and very woolly hair also signifies cowardice, as may be seen in Ethiopians.

None of those examples are indicative of "racism". Neither is your suggestion that mentioning women's paler complexions is "sexist".

If it's examples of rampant racism, anti-semitism and mass-slavery that you want ... look no further than Colonialist Britain.

No but claiming women are cowards on the basis of complexion I would have thought is a sexist attitude.

It is quite obvious that you have only superficially read the sections I quoted and have thought even less about what the author is saying . I would say calling someone from Egypt or Ethiopia a coward simply on the basis of the colour of their skin or Ethiopians based the curliness of their hair is racist.
