Try to read the articles, then you might find the answers, or are you frightened the bubble that is your world view will be pricked?

In essence the view of what happened in Cyprus in eg 1821 is mostly an artful construct of later years.

Anybody can write an article or a book these days. This one seems far more interesting to me. you should read it because it seems the way you see yourself is totally wrong. And I can give you more books and articles that will teach you who you are and what your identity should be if you want. No need to thank me.

National identity essentially resides in the mind: evolving over time it is inevitably selective in how it epitomizes the ideals and aspirations of a people. In this searching and deeply passionate book, Roy Strong reveals an iconography of England rooted in the cultural imagination. Rather than simply depicting reality, art and literature have often ennobled - and immortalised - reality in a way that has directly affected how we see ourselves.

No, I'll not waste my time in following your personal preferences - but you need to present a case for why you have found these so fascinating that you feel the need to parade them.

So, with respect to your thread topic, and since you purport to have read and scrutinised them against the wealth of abundant historical evidence; I ask you once again to explain what is the myth and demonstrate to us how it has been deconstructed, in your opinion and as supported by these articles. When you make a point, refer to the passage which you believe supports this, then we can discuss - until then, sticking us with link upon link of obscure offerings (of which there are millions on the Internet) is meaningless.

Every nation has some myths but our origins are quite obvious since we are Caucasian people who speak Greek. On the other hand you are trying to create a myth that is baseless ... that we originate from some midgets of undefined race who we know for a fact that they went extinct 1000s of years ago and who spoke a language which we don't even know what it was.

Now how did the Eteocypriots go extinct? Was Cyprus hit by a massive meteor or something?

Pull the other one Sotos!

...what we are has more to do with the First World War, than what we were before it. it is what we became, rather than what we were which is important; we are a Human race, Nations under this premise serve, it is not so easy the plunder left behind.
