I will be over on the 17th of December with my husband on a one way ticket!!. Our house has been ready since June this year, but we have been bucking up courage to take the leap, as to speak.
I know I will have to so something to keep myself happy, besides playing golf and going fishing that is, and was wondering how easy it is, or should I say not, to get a part time job? |

Congratulations – I do hope you are not disappointed by our winter weather!
Where are you moving to? |

To Kato paphos, and cannot wait, I have been over for the last two winters, so I know how cold it can be!
I do wonder if there is an element of becoming board when the sun is not out, what so you do in those months? |

Dear Dawn
To while away the Winter days: in my case I work - and work!
There is a danger of catching expat-itus here; many foreigners get bored and drink too much!
Getting work is not easy, partciularly in the Winter when there are fewer tourists - but there is a great deal of charity work to be done, animals, Cancer, children in local hospitals etc.
I go to a Chrstmas Dinner each year, where we all take two presents; then someone dresses up as 'Santa' and takes them to the children's wards of the General Hopsital here. Two weeks ago, I was involved in a Charity event for disabled Cypriot Servicemen and their families.
There is also voluntry work with the various animal charities; a great way of making good friends - you can also talk to the humans as well !!!!
Its getting the balance right between relaxing and keeping the mind/body active.

| Sounds good, I work for a charity here, helping people finding personal carers and assistants, I also love animals and would like to bring my two cats over with me but have been told its not a good idea!, have you any views on that? |

Hi Dawn
It's up to you; if you will miss them dearly, bring them - though it is not cheap. However, there are thousands of stray cats/dogs who need loving homes.

I was led to believe that cats were not looked upon as pets in Cyprus and that it would be mad for me to bring them over!.
I thought that it was now pretty easy to transport cats and that it did not cost much as you are allowed to quarantine them at home?
I would value your responce
thank you |
