Eroglu Rejects the Joint Declaration ...err... again!!!

Postby bill cobbett » Tue Apr 15, 2014 2:16 am

Reported by the CY PIO...

Two Peoples Two Countries Eroglug has again spoken against the terms of the Joint Declaration (which isn't surprising as he didn't know about it 'til a week after it was agreed) and gone back to what he calls principles put forward by the give nothing away, the fascist "national unity party".

"... Eroglu: My aim is to conclude the negotiations process on the principles that have been put forward by the National Unity Party
Illegal Bayrak television (13.04.14) broadcast that during a solidarity dinner for occupied Lefkosia district party members of the National Unity Party (UBP) the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu stated that he as the “president” had begun his duty with a different purpose.
“My aim is not only to conclude the negotiations process, but to conclude this negotiations process on the principles that have been put forward by the Turkish Cypriots and the National Unity Party. Today everyone in the TRNC is talking about an agreement. We are all searching for a viable and permanent solution” said Eroglu. ..."

A speech which drew criticism from Yorgnacioglu, (the chap wandering around the Occupied Areas calling himself some kind of "prime minister") who said...

"... that Eroglu “as president” must embrace the whole (Turkish Cypriot) community.

He went on and reminded the existence of the joint statement, which was signed by the two leaders in Cyprus, which consists of their general views of the Cyprus problem and added that Eroglu has not the right to speak in this way. ... "

You go tell that to Yorgnacioglu... and you'll run the risk of him calling you a pratt mate.

What are you on about? I think you'll find that Anastasiades said he plans to conduct the talks on the basis of UN Principles and international law. Not on the basis of Eroglu's delusions.

No doubt he would but I was there. Your "president" said he had no choice but to listen to his people. Exact same thing. Shame they did not include the questions on the YouTube video.

You seem to be confused about what Eroglu has said. He did not say he will conduct the talks on the basis of what the 'people' say but on the basis of what he and his party want. Big difference.

Just to be clear. Eroglu's comments have come under attack by other 'parties' in the occupied areas:

CTP General Secretary Erk criticized Eroglu's statements that negotiations must take place on the principles of UBP

Turkish Cypriot daily Star Kibris newspaper (15.04.14) reports that the General Secretary of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Kutlay Erk strongly criticized statements made by the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu.

The Turkish Cypriot leader stated on Sunday that his aim is to conclude this negotiations process on the principles that have been put forward by the National Unity Party (UBP).

Erk said that when the Turkish Cypriots elected Eroglu as negotiator, he sent a letter to the UN Secretary General saying that he will work towards the solution of the Cyprus problem on UN criteria. "Therefore the Cyprus problem will be solved based on these criteria. However, as far as we know, UBP' principles are not parallel with these", Erk noted. He went on stated that if the persons who sit at the negotiation table on the name of the Turkish Cypriots use these kinds of expressions that shows that he is the wrong leader on the position. He also added that he feels like warning Eroglu to do the right job on the right time and in the right place.
