Cant see anything about demanding taksim....and the whole island was once part of the Ottoman Empire so in effect Turkish.

Once again I am mystified. You are surprised that TC did not want to see British colonial rule in their own homeland replaced with Greek colonial rule, with them having no say in the matter ? I am Cypriot. I would strive for Cyprus and independence for Cyprus but how can you possibly ever imagine I would do anything except resist Cyprus being made a colony of Greece ?

Cyprus is a Greek island with a native Greek population since antiquity. The colonials are the British and the Turks and that is obvious... unless of course you want to keep Cyprus under colonial rule, which is what the Turks and the British wanted. Your small ethnic minority are basically the colonialists that came just before the British colonialists. Neither you nor the British had a problem to force a Greek islands like Cyprus under your empires but then you found it objectionable that Greek islands should be part of Greece  Colonialism is when a foreign nation forcefully keeps a territory of another nation under its rule... which is what the Turks and the British did to Cyprus. When the populations of two territories that are of the same nation choose democratically to unite it is called union, in Greek: Enosis.

I understand that you believe Cyprus is a 'Greek Island' and thus only GC should have any say over its future and that TC are just 'colonists' that should either accept they have no say over the future of Cyprus or fuck off. Unfortunately TC do not believe this and nor does the rest of the world. It is this very belief that GC have and had a right to impose their will on TC in Cyprus and TC determination to resist such that is at the core of the Cyprus problem and sustains it into the future.
